Today our board meeting took place. We have discussed the current situation and the next steps to setup the association and prepare the Interlift 2017.
These days it seems everyone is talking about open interfaces and the consumers’ higher demands for interchangeability of devices. Ever since the first days of CANopen, consumers and manufacturers alike have seen the upside in working with open protocols – and it seems now that something is about to happen in that field.
In April 2017 the LiftReport presented the first advertisement of the NeXt group, and it works. Interested parties from many countries asked for more detailed information.
On the same page in the LiftReport you could find the advertisement of our member Thor engineering.
The partnership of the members is crucial for the success of the working groups. The members of the working groups commit themselves to cooperating with principles of openness, transparency and meritocracy. The tasks are organized in different Special Interest Groups (SIG). Every NXg SIG has a Maintainer and minimum three Contributors. The Maintainer is responsible for driving the vision and managing the aspects of the SIG. He may also be a hardware or software contributor of the SIG. A Contributor is everyone who has contributed something back to the project.
NeXt group e.V. (NXg) was founded to promote comprehensive manufacturing collaboration (consortium) for the development and networking of electronic devices and interfaces in the field of hoisting and conveying engineering.
NXg members develop and support internationally standardized interfaces for lifts, escalators and moving walkways. They develop and publish NXg specifications, NXg reference hardware and NXg software, which cover:
On 2017-03-05 the members of the NeXt group met for the first General Assembly.
The reason for the extraordinary meeting was the necessary modification of the rules. The new version is online available.
At the meeting we also discussed the next steps for setting up the association and the planned marketing tasks.
