Open Source Software

NeXt group also provide open source software for elevator, escalator, tools and cloud services unter a free licence. An open source software can help to:

  • to optimise the interoperability of devices, tools and services
  • to implement open interfaces in own devices
  • to reduce development costs
  • ...

Some open source software projects are currently available for members only.

CiA CANopen DS-417 - CANopen-Lift

The CANopen application profile for lift control systems, also known as CANopen Lift specification, defines the communication interfaces for different virtual devices. This includes call, car drive, and car door controllers as well as input panel, output panel, car drive, car position, load measuring, car door, light barrier, remote data transmission, and power-measuring units. All necessary PDOs for a single-shaft lift control system are defined; some of them are distributed in broadcast other peer-to-peer.

Standard Elevator Information Schema

The Standard Elevator Information Schema is a mechanism for communicating static information, such as configuration details, dynamic information such as current floor and registered calls and events such as calls and car trips, between all manner of systems and users of passenger elevators. It comprises a set of definitions of complex and simple data types and the structures in which they may be used.

NeXt group at ELEVCON 2018

On May 22nd-24th the ELEVCON 2018 took place in Berlin / Germany. NeXt group was also there with a small stand, to inform the visitors of the congress about the benefits and possibilities of open source in the lift branch.

All board members were there to answer the questions of the visitors and we got a very positive feedback for the idea of open source hardware and software in the lift industry.
